Emerging Artists and Designers: Senior Show 2008
All Galleries April 23 – May 18, 2008
Opening reception: Wednesday, April 23, 5:30 – 7:30pm
Closing reception: Sunday, May 18, 1 – 3pm
The culmination of four years of intensive training, the annual exhibition is an opportunity for the Philadelphia community to view work by seniors graduating from Moore’s Bachelor of Fine Arts programs. The exhibit features work by each of the College’s seniors, representing the Fine Arts, Fashion Design, Graphic Design, Interior Design, Textile Design, Illustration, Art Education and Art History majors. The VIP Reception and 2008 Senior Show Preview on April 23 is a chance to purchase original work by emerging artists and designers, review design presentations and recruit creative talent.

Five Into One

Five Into One is an exhibit annually hosted by Moore and organized by Philadelphia Sculptors. This year the exhibition is curated by recent graduates of Tyler School of Art Joe DiGiuseppe and Chris Golas and features work by senior and graduate students at Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, Tyler School of Art, University of Pennsylvania, The University of the Arts, and Moore College of Art & Design.

Pamela Deitrich – Circus Time

This exhibition features paintings by Moore alumna, Pamela Deitrich ‘70. The artist created these works onsite during live performances at Big Apple Circus, capturing the excitement and energy of the experience through line, color and light. Her work has been recognized in juried exhibitions for their exploration of thematic subjects, and has been featured in a national juried show titled, The Child in You, at Woman Made Gallery in Chicago. Pamela Deitrich received her BFA from Moore College of Art & Design and has worked as both an illustrator and art educator.

Works from Moore’s Summer Art & Design Institute

Reception hosted by Continuing Education
Summer Hours: Monday – Friday 10am – 5pm
The exhibition includes selections by young women participating in the Summer Art & Design Institute, a four-week pre-college residential program open to students at the high school sophomore level to graduating high school seniors. The Institute allows dedicated students who are passionate about their art to spend four weeks developing their skills as artists and designers. Designed to prepare students for the college admissions process, the program includes immersion in studio concentration in the areas of Fine Arts, Fashion Design and Animation, as well as an intensive portfolio development program. Upon successful completion of the program, students will earn three college credits.

The work currently featured includes work by eight Moore students: Deanna Campisi, Kelly Ann Catenacci, Rebecca Daddino, Jenni Deets, Katie Glisson, Bronwyn Landvatter, Chelsea Maymon, and Jennifer Tursi. The student work rotates on a six to nine month schedule.

Surface Tension
Moore College Galleries at Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts

Surface Tension, an exhibition at the Kimmel featuring approximately fourteen multi-media works by Moore Alumnae that are united by the visual tension created by the artist’s use of line, color, shape and/or form. Representing all majors and spanning graduation years from 1965 to 2007, the exhibition and its theme are designed to coincide with Moore’s Annual Alumnae exhibition, TENSION, held at Moore this spring, expanding the show’s concepts and extending opportunities for visibility for Moore Alumnae into the community. The exhibition is on view at the top of both stairways of the Kimmel Center’s First Tier Promenade.
