PURCHASE THE 2011 LEARNING THROUGH PHOTOGRAPHY CATALOG HERE.
Upon completion of each year's Learning Through Photography at Moore class project, a comprehensive catalogue documenting student writing and photography will be published and distributed throughout city schools and libraries. The publication is intended to be used as a catalyst for conversation between students involved with the project, their peers, families, and the broader Philadelphia community. Together, the project, exhibition and publication create a collective vision portraying a broad portrait of Philadelphia’s youth, celebrating the diversity spanning our urban landscape and challenging ideas about who lives where and how.
The Learning Through Photography at Moore project will empower middle school students to explore their world as they photograph scenes from their lives and use their images as catalysts for verbal and written self-expression. Ultimately, the project will connect Philadelphia middle-school students with broader perspectives about themselves and the world they live in and develop a sense of community. The culminating exhibition, in addition to the catalog, will present the artwork of LTP students in Moore’s professional galleries bringing new populations of art audiences to The Galleries and the “Cultural Corridor” of the Benjamin Franklin Parkway.
