The Philadelphia premiere of Alice Neel (2007) by director Andrew Neel, Alice Neel’s grandson followed by a post-screening discussion with the Andrew Neel. This feature-length documentary film tells the story of Neel’s life, exploring the struggles she faced as a woman artist, a single mother and a painter who defied convention.
Conversation with Lowery Stokes Sims and Dianne Vanderlip on Changing Roles of Women in Cultural Institutions

Lowery Stokes Sims is the Charles Bronfman Curator of the Museum of Arts & Design in New York. A specialist in modern and contemporary art, Sims served as executive director and then president at The Studio Museum in Harlem from 2000 through 2006. Prior to that she was on the education and curatorial staff of the Metropolitan Museum of Art for 27 years. Dianne Vanderlip is curator emeritus at the Denver Art Museum, where she servied as founding curator of modern and contemporary art for nearly thirty years. Vanderlip was founding director of The Galleries at Moore from 1968 to 1978 and is currently working as a curator for the Gagosian Gallery in Los Angeles. These two museum professionals talked about the evolution of their careers.
